Just be aware that there are good and bad people EVERYWHERE...churches included! You can search different churches until you find one that you're comfortable in, make that one your home. I've had experiences in churches with negative people and it made me stay away for years. But I decided that I needed to learn more about the thing that I claimed.. ..Christianity. Along the way, I found a church family who is supportive and helps me grow spiritually. I finally found the place I belong. I'm blessed to have a teaching nurturing knowledgeable pastor too. 296. Dee Joyce: Zaria J I can only speak on my spiritual experiences. I grew up in church...sunday school, choir, VBS. I accepted Jesus and got baptized at a young age. In college I began to stray from church and eventually GOD. Mostly because of my lifestyle choices that I knew were not in line with the word of GOD. I professed to be spiritual more than religious. I've had negative experiences in church, petty gossip...nothing major. But I used excuses to leave the church and further seperate myself from voice of GOD. In my mind I justified all this by acknowledging the small things that caused me to leave instead of the many years of amazing positives of my church home. Dark days showed up...but I was lost without spiritual guidance. So eventually I fell to my knees and totally surrendered. I cut off toxic negative people, places, and things. I began to study my Bible and pray for GOD'S will in my life. I pray daily for his will and ability to discern. I saw gradual changes. But once I started to attend church again out of desire...not obligation...I saw the power of Faith and prayer for myself and came into the fullness of GOD. I believe that being involved in church has increased my spiritual growth and personal development. I'm able to get outside myself and focus on helping others also by working in children's church, outreach programs,Women's ministries. These things have been so beneficial in my life. Churches are a place of healing for the wounded. Sometimes it takes a few different churches to find your home. Don't get discouraged by others behavior...stay focused on your relationship with GOD. To question the society,politics, and religion is natural to born leaders. We want a deeper understanding...keep that openmind! Who says you can't go to church if you don't know GOD is real? As kids usually we are taught to believe whatever our family does. So most people are unsure at times. I was an adult who had lived thru adversity before I knew GOD for myself. You have just as much right to be there as the next believer or non believer. Attending church is a necessary step in self discovery and finding purpose. You hold your head high and walk in like you own the place...as humbly as possible. I really wanted to find a Pastor that was also a teacher of theology and spiritual principles. I wish you well on your journey. We're ALL sinners saved by grace. 🛐
