The birth of a planet: Astronomers hail unprecented 'baby picture' that could reveal the origin of the solar system
Image is of planet-forming disc surrounding sun-like star, HL Tau
It was taken by Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array in Chile
It shows multiple concentric rings separated by clearly defined gaps
These are discs in which asteroids, comets, and planets are created
Images such as this could help us understand origin of solar system

- Cpierre: +MilitantPeaceist Many things hurt the natural explanation of the supernatural event known as the big bang. Which would have been required to be fine tuned... Claiming that everything came from literally nothing is a supernatural claim. There was no chaos in the beginning. The initial conditions of the ''big bang'' were fine tuned for life. I've already explained why chaos theory is illogical when it comes to the beginning of time, space, and matter.
- Leighton Julye: something is heading our way; seems or looks like a brown hole unknown
- Love is Space: it is amazing!
Thank you for the video.
- adam davis: theorys, reconstructions
process may happen,
i want to see and know for a fact that a star has birthed
or am i being silly
- kowdermeister: +dbenders1 Because that's how ALMA works. There's no real, original image, ~60 telescopes gather data and they combine these data using interferometry to reconstruct the image. What you see is real, just not constructed as Hubble would do it.
- Cpierre: +MilitantPeaceist You have to understand what Entropy tells us. There's never a reversal back to order from chaos. There was really no need for a reply in the first place.
- Danny The Elite: For the same reason that you can see a mountain quite clearly miles away, but can't see a person clearly several hundred feet away.
- Rick Perez: Young star birthing planets, what marvels this universe hold :D feeling astonished!
- Cpierre: +MilitantPeaceist I'm not continuing this dialogue after I've already put it to rest. If you would like any further comments from me, then please refer to my prior posts. Thanks and have a nice life.
- I Galactic I: This is outstanding, I would love to see a more progressed simulation of this in the future. We could learn so much from this.
- DeShawn Henry: God did that ;)
- American astronomy: The amazing detail is mind blowing. I can make out perturbations in the disk and using that I can with my minds eye see the planets. I at least know where they are. That's amazing.
- American astronomy: Proto planets I meant.
- metaminerx: in due time we shall.
- Gary Lee: But they can't get a clear in focus photo of Ceres????????????????????????? WTF!!
- Henrik Buitenhuis: Thanks
- dbenders1: Why can't we see the real photo and not the reconstruction.
- dbenders1: +aSStronaut111 it's not real, it says reconstruction.
- Cpierre: ''We were surprised at the level of detail'' Well I wasn't... Also, this could hurt the chaotic theory of the bing bang. This is another example of order and detail that has allegedly been confirmed...

No, i'm pretty the pic at 1:18 is the real thing.
- kevin bauer: Thank-you for the upload and great Video Share of the Footage taken by the ALMA Telescope of the Young Star and the Galaxy forming around it Cosmos.
